Poetry is everywhere and written by everyone! Alan Alexander (A.A.) Milne is known for the iconic books about Winnie the Pooh. He was also a gifted poet. This is the third poem from his book When We Were Very Young.
Two years before Winnie the Pooh was born, the book When We Were Very Young was published. The bear almost everyone knows as Winnie the Pooh was portrayed by E.H. Shepard as an illustration for the 38th poem in this book. However, it was Happiness that can be considered as the birth of this sweet teddy bear. The teddy bear that was used to get the inspiration belonged to the son of Milne. This bear was given as a birthday present in 1921.
Enough about the creation, how about this poem?
This is one of those poems that sticks around, once you read it. Maybe you did, a long time ago. As we share this poem, the feeling when first reading this poem.
Are ducks in the pond something to consider as beautiful? Or a long raincoat (Mackintosh, not the computer)? Yes, they are. Remember stepping out in the rain and dancing in puddles? Happiness comes from those things in life, we consider to be small. Yet, they aren’t. They form the basis of emotions and yes, this poem can be part of your emotions as well. Whether you think about this sweet little bear or the feeling of dancing in the rain. Remember, it is all about happiness… at all times!
