Holika Dahana

Holika Dahana

It’s the first time, we published a poem about Holika Dahana or  Kamudu pyre. The poem Holika Dahana, written by Shubham Goel describes the story behind the celebration of Holika Dahana

About the poem

This whole experience of thinking and writing is very overwhelming, sometimes leaves me in a mess, but in the end I enjoy doing it.

About the poem

It abstractly describes the story behind the celebration of this festival.

It gives the reader a sense of hope, that no matter how dark and dreadful the evil may seem, but sheer faith in the goodness within oneself is all you need to win. 🙂

One must remember that the evil doesn’t win when you’re vulnerable. It wins when you extend your hands towards it fearing that vulnerability.

Holika Dahana

By Shubham Goel

Holika Dahana

It is your faith
that has kept you alive,
you think!? I’ll burn you to ashes
And feast upon you.”,
she growled in arrogance,
as I sat amidst the rising flames.
Soon after, as the flames settled,
I said,
“You devoured my flesh,
You burnt my bones
You died with my ashes,
And rescued my soul.
