The place that God forgot

By James Wright

Find me in the backroom, I’m hidden and secure.

“Never step out son” she tells me daily.

This wicked city, is not for you or I.

This creature can not hurt us, but it  may try.

I want to see light, I want to see stars.

“In our own time, son” she tells me nightly.

We’ll take our leave soon, take our shot.

We’ll leave this place, that god forgot.
