It is time to say goodbye to 2017! This was the first full year we had the privilege to publish so many beautiful poetry on our website. Poetry that was submitted to us or that we decided to analyse more. It’s time to look back on 2017! On this last day of 2017, we look back at the year that is almost over!
This was our year!
The first poem we published on our website in January is written by the Dutch poetess Sterre de Jong. In her poem Goodmorning spider she was able to transform her thoughts or observation of a spider into poetry. Since that moment, we have published many more poems! But that wasn’t all!
The Ministry of Poetic Affairs is transformed into an online poetry magazine, that is visited by many on daily basis. We are happy and honoured to promote poetry from all over the world. And yes, we have had the privilege to promote poets from every corner of this planet!
We published so many poems. Some of them were beautiful, strong, intense, funny or else… It is impossible to create a list with the best poems of 2017. You can read more about our favourite and most-read poems in this article.
What we do, what we don’t do
We take pride in promoting the works of others. Our mission is very simple: to provide an independent platform for poets. But, we take it a step further than many others who promote poetry. They do this in their own way, we do this differently. Every poem we publish on social media is based on an article. This article can be found on our website. So, we do promote poetry, but we just only publish the poem on social media. We believe that every good poet deserves our platform. With this platform, we want to create the possibility for poets to be found by others. Not just those who use a certain social media platform.
Were you part of this?
Were you part of this? Then you were part of our year! Thank you, for your input, feedback, poems and comments! If you want to become more and get involved on a different level, then think about writing for us!
What are our plans for 2018, you might ask! Well, to do what we did I 2017: promoting poets and poetry from all over the world. This is because we are The Ministry of Poetic Affairs, the online poetry magazine and, yes, we love poetry!
There will be some changes due in 2018. One of them is based on respect. During 2017, we saw those poets who did everything to get attention. The follow-unfollow method on social media – especially after we published their work – does not pay off. We don’t believe in that strategy and so shouldn’t you!
The best wishes for 2018!
