He has been one of the poets, who provides us with so many beautiful poems! He continues to do this, even in 2018. This is the poem “We must create trust.” A poem was written by the American poet Zac Brown.

This poem, It hurts to be nice, isn’t the easiest one there is. Well, at least when it comes down to the subject Zac writes freely about.

We live in a world, where social media is very popular. We use this too, and most of the times, it is a good thing. There are those, who hide between the anonymity of social media and cross every line when it comes to being social. Zac notices that this world is changing:

“The ever-increasing cynical values of the world, created by racism, stereotypes, molestation, death and rape can be combatted by overcoming and creating an overwhelming sense of trust.”

Very wise words, Zac. We can only agree on these words!

We must create trust

We must create trust

It hurts to be nice,
They manipulate,
But I roll the dice,
Either way they hate,
The small trust is sliced.

I claim to be nice, I claim to be right,
I pray every night and hope for light,
Yet the answers out of sight outta’ mind,
About a kind gift I have that’s worthless,
The world’s cynical n’ cursed, it leaves,
Me nervous to help a lil’ girl who needs,
More than just a mom and dad to make,
Her feel safe in this planet goddamnit.

Shouldn’t I help her?
No don’t be weird, oh,
They’d think I felt her,
Don’t be a hero,
They’ll judge your shelter.

Its bad to be nice,
But I do not care,
Say it once or twice,
This love I will share,
Even if it bites.

I claim to be nice, I claim to be right,
I pray every night and hope for light,
Yet the answers out of sight outta’ mind,
About a kind gift I have that’s worthless,
The world’s cynical n’ cursed, it leaves,
Me nervous to help a lil’ girl who needs,
More than just a mom and dad to make,
Her feel safe on this planet goddamnit.

So here is to you,
The starlight of war,
That shines through blood too,
Break into the torn,
Make truth of this dream we pursue.
