There seems to be a lot of confusion about the work of The Ministry of Poetic Affairs. We will try to explain what we do, exactly and what we are not.
It all started in 2016 when we launched our website (www.ministryofpoeticaffairs.com and later we changed this to www.ministryofpoeticaffairs.org). We wanted to create a new platform for poetry. However, we tried to create an online community. Like many others did. Everyone can start a community or start an account to promote the work of others. We decided to take it some steps further.
The Ministry of Poetic Affairs isn’t a community. We consider ourselves as an online poetry magazine since we try to share more background information. We don’t believe that promotion is just a matter of reposting social media posts.
In the (almost) two years we have been providing our independent platform, we introduced some novelties, that were sometimes follows by others. We don’t see that as stealing. We consider ourselves to be lucky to be such a great inspiration for others.
We just don’t aim to be the biggest on social media. We believe there is more than social media. We believe that a good website offers background information about that what visitors want to read more about: the beautiful world of poetry. This isn’t limited to writing about poets. No, there is lots to write about. Take for instance the writing tips. Or the options to consider when it comes to using the right writing tools.
If you aren’t into analyzing poems, you can always write about that what is related to poetry (writing tips, tips for using software etc). But hey, you probably already know this. What you might not know about The Ministry of Poetic Affairs: we are a platform that thrives on volunteers. We do every bit of effort to provide a platform that is based on respect and freedom.
If you are in search of a quick promotion, then we are not the right platform for you. However, if you want to make sure that you can be found via other channels than the social media pages you focus on: we are the right partner for you. The good news: we all do this for free!
